Boston Tiffin
FAQ
What comes in a tiffin?
- We will have 6 rotating vegetarian curries and 2 chicken curries each week.
- There are some fan favorites that we will almost always have such as Butter Chicken and Palak Paneer, but otherwise we also try to incorporate seasonal ingredients that you do not often find in most Indian restaurants.
- Fresh chapati + rice
Is food made by Boston Tiffin like typical Indian restaurant food? Is it heavy and creamy or healthy with less oil?
Our Kala Chana and Kashmiri Rajma are emblematic of the food that we endeavor to serve: healthy, nutritious and homestyle. The only creamy foods that we serve are the dishes that one would expect to be creamy. Butter Chicken and Paneer Makhani are amongst these examples.
Where is the food prepared?
We operate a licensed, commercial kitchen in Cambridge. We are not some aunty making food out of her apartment (though I am sure aunty is a great person). We use a blast chiller for food safety. Aunty is not able to keep her food cold like we do.
What sort of oils do you use to cook your food?
We only use olive oil and grass-fed ghee in our food. We do not use vegetable, palm or canola oils in any of our food and never will. We have a belief that healthy fats results in both healthy and tasty food.
Can I skip a week?
Yes. You can skip within 72 hours before your scheduled delivery.
Do you use any food coloring or preservatives in your food?
No. You will never find unnaturally, brightly colored red chicken or paneer in the food that we deliver to you. We will never use food coloring, preservatives or synthetic substances in our food.
Will you do corporate delivery?
Absolutely. We can schedule regular delivery of tiffins to your company in our delivery area. If outside of our delivery area there is a $25 delivery fee.
How does this compare with just ordering takeout from my local Indian restaurant?
When ordered through Boston Tiffin, you will get a complete meal rather than needing to order a la carte. Each Boston Tiffin meal comes with two different sabjis, whole wheat chapati and rice.
There's also another significant difference: we use very high quality ingredients. Most Indian restaurants use the absolute cheapest ingredients they can find. And those cheap ingredients such as food coloring, soybean oil and preservatives will never be found in the food that we serve you and your family.
